REACH is an EU safety regulation covering the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemicals. From 1 June 2007, substances of very high concern imported into the EU may require authorization. Manufacturers and importers must register with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) for goods imported into the EU with an annual import volume of more than 1 ton (including 1 ton). Authorisation may be required if a substance imported into the EU is classified as a Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC).

EU manufacturers or importers must notify the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) if there are any substances of very high concern above 0.1% and the annual import volume of the substance exceeds 1 ton.
